Safe Dental Sedation

As specialists in pediatric dentistry, we understand the value of ensuring your child has a positive experience at the dentist. Building a healthy relationship with dental care now will foster the growth of a foundation to support future oral health. This may be a difficult task with children and teens that experience dental fear or anxiety. Being afraid of visiting the dentist is not uncommon and is experienced by people of all ages, not just children.

Our team wants each and every guest to be comfortable and we maintain a focus on kindness, compassion, and patience at the forefront of everything we do. Still, we realize that some kids and teens need a little more help relaxing in the dentist’s chair; that’s why we offer sedation with nitrous oxide at our office! Contact our office to schedule an appointment and find out how nitrous oxide can help your child.

Sedation With Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a breathable form of sedation, administered to your child through a small mask placed over their nose. The gas is formulated from a combination of nitrogen and oxygen that works quickly to produce calming effects for your child. Nitrous oxide is safe and effective, keeping your child awake during their treatment to respond to questions or follow instructions from our team members. Your child will be monitored throughout their entire time in our office and we will be able to increase or decrease the amount of gas they receive as needed.

At the end of their appointment, we will flush the gas from their system by providing pure oxygen for a few seconds through the mask. The gas has no lingering effects, allowing your child to return to normal activity and behavior after their appointment.

What Children Benefit from Nitrous Oxide?

  • Those with dental fear or anxiety
  • Children who have trouble sitting still
  • Kids or teens who require lengthy procedures
  • Children with sensitive gag reflexes
